Our spring 2018 internships run February 12, 2018 through May 4, 2018. Applications for spring internships are due no later than December 8, 2017.
Represent.Us is seeking qualified candidates for a Research Internship in our Northampton, MA office. Semester-long and summer internship opportunities are offered to talented undergraduate students who feel passionately about addressing the undue influence of money in US politics.
The Research Intern will play a direct role in the day-to-day work of our team and will gain a deep understanding about the democracy reform movement taking place across our country. The ideal candidate will be creative, hard working, enthusiastic, detail oriented, resourceful, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. We welcome students eager to participate and excited to help grow the organization. Students who wish to leave the internship with a work product they can share with future employers will have the opportunity to do so.
As a member of our Political Team, the Research Intern will primarily focus on compiling and analyzing political, legal, policy, and legislative information related to our democracy reform platform. However, the Research Intern will also routinely assist our communications, development, and digital departments with information retrieval and analysis as necessary.
In short, you’ll be one of the people we’ll rely on to drive first-level research inquiries on a variety of topics. As our work is constantly changing, we won’t be asking you to do the same thing over and over again. Instead, you’ll be asked to undertake research like writing a one-page memo on the history of a specific corruption case in a state, analyzing the cost and competitiveness of a city’s elections, or pulling press clips on a specific issue and compare and contrast them. We’re committed to ensuring that you build skills in this internship and enjoy your work, so we won’t be asking you to spend much of your time doing data entry.
We’re looking for applicants who are:
- Passionate about fighting corruption and fixing our democracy
- Organized and technologically proficient with word processing and spreadsheets
- Excited by research
- Able to demonstrate strong writing and verbal communication skills
- Fall-semester, spring-semester, and summer internships available
- Based in our Northampton, MA office – in the “Five Colleges” area and accessible by public transit (PVTA)
- We’re committed to making sure your internship is educational, challenging, and informative, and we’re happy to coordinate with your college or university so you can receive credit for your work
- Interns are paid at an hourly rate, or may do an unpaid internship for school credit
