Elisa Ortiz

Policy & Political Chief of Staff

Elisa joins the Represent Us team with nearly 20 years of experience developing and leading advocacy campaigns, organizing and facilitating social justice coalitions, and managing local and remote teams. She has worked in a variety of movements including criminal justice reform, immigration, access to justice, transportation equity, and reproductive rights. Most recently, she worked at Appleseed, a nonprofit network of social and legal justice centers around the US and Mexico. At Appleseed she developed and implemented a new network collaboration model, supervised teams of pro bono attorneys on major research projects, and managed all communications, fundraising and administrative work for the organization. In addition to her work, Elisa also serves as the Chair of the Arlington County Neighborhood Complete Streets Commission and volunteers with several local community organizations in Arlington, VA. When she’s not working or volunteering, you can find her reading, hiking with her husband and dogs, or singing to herself constantly.
