Michael Cannon
Quirky factoid about Michael: He’s a history buff.
“I started reading historical novels in junior high. I got my degree in history too. Looking back now I can see that this interest made me acutely aware of what my generation inherited from the hundreds of generations before me. It made me grateful. It made me conscious of my actions and their impact on future generations.”
What brought you to the movement?
“I realized that in order for us to implement sane energy policy that would stop man-made global warming, we had to first remove the fossil fuel industries control of Congress, via campaign contributions, lobbyist and PACs. Like it or not, I had to step-up. My kids and grandkids were counting me.”
SUCCESS: Cross-partisan messaging
Michael was featured on “The Right Side” with Chris Pareja, a conservative talk show on KMVT15 Community Media, based in the Silicon Valley, CA. Michael eloquently discusses the issue and why every citizen should be on board, regardless of political ideology. “Every time I get an opportunity to speak to an audience about corruption, and the AACA, I say yes. At one community event I met Chris Pareja. He was representing the Tea Party’s views. We hit it off and Chris agreed to help me build deeper relationships with conservative organizations. In our next conversation I learned he was the host of the conservative TV show The Right Side, and that he wanted me to be his guest. It’s good to be lucky.” Michael continues to actively spread the word and build relationships with influentials across the aisle.
