Big updates on Ranked Choice Voting in Oregon!

Plus August events and volunteering opportunities

Published August 13, 2024

Hello to the RepUs community in Oregon! Welcome to our new bi-weekly blog giving you all the news on the efforts to bring Ranked Choice Voting to Oregon this fall. Have questions about our work in Oregon? Contact our Oregon Field Organizer Meg Wade.

UPDATES!

We had a great time last week at our first statewide online volunteer orientation. Folks from all around the state left committed to creative ways to spread the word (and love 💕) for Ranked Choice Voting, doing everything from stepping up to ask their local city council member for an endorsement to talking to their neighbors at the annual community rummage sale.

And we have some big news: we have a ballot measure number! You can now confidently say “Vote Yes on OR 117!” Make sure to visit the new and updated campaign site for the OR Ranked Choice Voting coalition and sign up to receive updates: yeson117.com.

So now’s the moment to make sure others in cities and towns across the state learn about Ranked Choice and are ready to vote in November. We hope you’ll join us at an event in the coming weeks. Don’t see something where you are? Would you like to help make something happen? Reach out and we’ll help you bring the movement for a better democracy to your community.

WE NEED YOU!

Here are two key places we need additional volunteer power right now:

Southern Oregon Promo Team:
We have a lot of events coming up this fall, and we need your help to get folks to them! Are you willing to distribute posters to small businesses? Help get our announcements in bulletins at your local church or org newsletter? Hand out flyers at local events? Respond to this email and let us know!

Harney County Fair Event Team
RepresentUs is headed to Southeastern OR the first week of September, to talk with visitors at the Harney County Fair. Help us staff our booth, or join us for a local get-together (details TBD). The fair runs September 3-8. Whether you might be available for an afternoon, a whole day, or the whole week, we need you! Just hit reply to tell us how you can help, whether it’s showing up or providing local connections before we arrive.
