Feel what we feel when we wake
up every day: a strong sense of purpose
RepresentUs is America’s leading nonpartisan organization working to build a government that is truly accountable to the people.
We’re a focused, values-driven crew of strategists, organizers, creatives, policy nerds, and operators who are passionate about democracy. We move fast, test ideas, learn quickly, and deliver real world impact.

					Our Mission
To make government more accountable to the people
As corrupt political leaders and their allies ignore the will of the people, dismantle key institutions and checks on their authority, silence dissent, and use their power to enrich themselves and entrench their rule, we’re focused on “educating nationally, activating locally” to:
- Limit the damage being done right now to our country and ordinary Americans
- Expose corruption and attacks against our Constitution
- Build a non-partisan movement that holds government accountable and makes it work for all of us, not just the wealthy and well-connected

- Plus personal days, volunteer time, and ten days of sick time per year

									Salaries
We are transparent with our salary structure. Each position will be assigned to a salary band, based on external marketplace data and internal equity. Movement within the salary band will occur annually, along with applicable market adjustments to salary. Employees may also be eligible for merit increases, based on performance. Starting salary is based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. To counter pay inequality and uphold internal parity, we use a nonnegotiable starting salary system, while benchmarking our pay to competitive markets. Our minimum starting salary for full time positions is $60,000.

Cultural AgreementsThese agreements are the principles that guide the work we do and how we work together. They were developed collaboratively by a team of staff across the organization. It is critical to our success that all current and prospective staff review this document and agree to center these ideals in our work. We believe playing by and iterating on these rules will maximize the positive impact our organization has on the strength of America’s democracy.

Notes on Union MembershipWhat is a union? A union is an organization of workers at the same employer who, through a process of collective bargaining, jointly develop a contract with their employer that covers the terms and conditions of their employment – things like wages, benefits, and other work-related matters. In a Union, workers have a seat at the table when decisions affecting their work and benefits are being made. What are the main differences between unionized and non-union employment? The main difference is the Union and Employer relationship – the Union and Employer have a contractual relationship, and the Union represents employees in the negotiation and enforcement of the contract, including salary, benefits, disciplinary/termination processes and more. To support that work, Union members pay dues to our parent chapter, Local 153 of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU). You can find out more info about OPEIU at their website. When did the RepresentUs Union start? Why? Our employees union was voluntarily recognized by the Employer in April 2021, and we signed our first contract in April 2022. The organization was 10 years old at the time of recognition, and our work and staff had exponentially grown since the organization’s founding. Following the 2020 election, a crucial moment in our democracy, our work continued to expand and our staff came together to form a union to create a more democratic workplace amidst this expansion.

As part of this fight, we must advance a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all that we do to demonstrate what representative democracy looks like in America.
