MinnesotaRanked Choice Voting
Campaign Status: Pending
The Policy
Bill #SF 2270/HF 2486 – Introducing RCV in primary and in general elections for state and federal offices with additional local integration.
Background
Ranked Choice Voting is currently being used in Minneapolis, Minnesota, adopted in 2006, and subsequently used in the 2009, 2013, 2017, and 2021 municipal elections. Since then, it’s been adopted in Saint Paul, Bloomington, Saint Louis Park, and Minnetonka. Following this string of local successes, there is now real momentum to use RCV statewide in Minnesota.
