WashingtonRanked Choice Voting Local Option

Campaign Status: Pending

The Policy

Giving local municipalities the option to hold their elections using Ranked Choice Voting

Background

In 2022, Seattle became the third-largest city in the United States to approve Ranked Choice Voting for their elections. Because of this adoption, Seattle residents now have better choices and better representation in city government.

Because of Seattle’s high profile win, there is now momentum in Washington to make Ranked Choice Voting an option for more of the state.
